In a study commissioned by Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) titled "Fair Working Conditions for Platform Workers", author and professor Martin Risak from the Institute for Labour and Social Law at the University of Vienna, explains why a government regulation on the platform economy is urgently needed at the European level.

“As platform work is often performed cross-border with at least one party residing in a country other than the other party regulation at the EU level in the form of a directive is the most appropriate means to ensure adequate protection of platform workers,” writes professor Risak in the summary.
